Vztah mezi sérovou hladinou vitaminu D a kostní minerální denzitou Vztah mezi sérovou hladinou vitaminu D a kostní minerální denzitou

Studie u zdravých mužů a žen ukázala, že hypovitaminóza D je faktorem spoluurčujícím maximum kostní hmoty (PBM) dosažené během života i rizikovým faktorem pro vznik osteoporózy u mužů i žen po 50. roce věku.

Podávání vitaminu D při léčbě osteoporózy spolu s kalciem a léky ovlivňujícími metabolismus kostí je zavedenou praxí. Není ale zcela prozkoumán účinek vitaminu D na kostní minerální denzitu (BMD) v průběhu života.

V Saúdské Arábii proběhla v roce 2008 průřezová studie, která hodnotila vztah mezi sérovou hladinou 25-hydroxycholekalciferolu (kalcidiolu) a BMD u 400 zdravých mužů a žen z věkové skupiny s PBM a z věkové skupiny od 50 let. Byla stanovena hladina kalcidiolu a pomocí duální rentgenové absorpciometrie byla určena BMD v proximálním femuru a bederní páteři. Pacienti byli rozděleni podle věku, pohlaví a hladiny kalcidiolu.
